1.Introduction
--------------
Zetamath is a fully
functional spreadsheet
designed for both the
onHand PC and Ruputer.

Keep this file with the
program as a reference
guide.

Please provide bug info
or suggestions to my
e-mail address at the
bottom of this file.

Features
-Auto Column Width
-Data Compression
-Formulas (A1 or R1C1)
-Operators (+,-,*,/,&)
-Range functions
-Split Screen Keyboard
-File import ability
-Password File Protect
-Row & Column Headings

2.Using Zetamath
----------------
Zetamath operates using
two different modes.

The full-screen view
will scroll and allow
cells to be selected.
When scrolling up or
down for more than a
few seconds, scrolling
will change to a page
up or page down action.

In split-screen view,
an on-screen keyboard
is displayed to allow
cell editing.

The MENU button will
toggle between full
& split-screen modes
or it will act as a
shift lock, if a field
is being edited. The
keyboard cursor will
also jump to the OK
button to minimize
navigation time.

In split-screen mode,
a blinking cursor will
initially be shown
inside the field being
edited. Up or down
movements will change
the focus between the
keyboard and the field.

Note that the double-
click rate differs from
that used by some other
programs. Pressing the
cursor twice (double-
clicking) will quickly
activate the following
special features:

== Special Keys ==
BS: Cursor Backspace
HM: Set cursor to home
OK: Accept new value
CN: Cancel entry
Dbl.Click to the
right to activate.

== Menus ==
FILE, EDIT, VIEW, OPTN
Dbl.Click to the left
to close the menu.

== Worksheet ==
Dbl.Click to the left
in column A to close
the program or display
the FILE menu, if any
changes were not saved.

3.Worksheets
----------------
Worksheets can consist
of cells located in
columns (A-Z) and rows
(1-255). Headings can
be placed in Row 1 or
Column A prior to
activating the row or
column heading option.

A Wide-View mode is
available which will
suppress row headings
to provide additional
horizontal workspace.

When entering data into
cells, certain initial
characters have special
functions:

= Start of formula
' Left-aligned text
" Right-aligned text
^ Centered text
_ Underline or link
| Graphics cell

Underlined and centered
text will appear in a
smaller font size when
gridlines are off.

4.Menu Commands
----------------
The following commands
are available, and vary
with context:

== FILE Menu ==
-OPEN: Open or import
 an existing file.
-SAVE: Save a .ZMH file
-SAVE AS: Save a .ZMH
 file under a new name
-EXIT: closes the
 program without saving
 A message indicating
 "LOSE CHANGES" will
 be shown if unsaved
 changes were made.

== EDIT Menu ==
-COPY: Store the cell
 formula to the clip-
 board. This is only
 available while one
 cell is selected.
-PASTE: Store the clip-
 board into the active
 cell. Repeated pas-
 ting into blank cells
 can be done by press-
 ing the ENTER button.
-INSERT:Will insert a
 new row or column in-
 to the sheet. This
 is only available
 while an entire row
 or column is selected.
-DELETE:Will delete a
 row or column from the
 sheet. This is only
 available while an
 entire row or column
 is selected.
-CLEAR: Active cells
 are cleared (replaced
 with blank values).
-FIND:Search for data
 in the current sheet.
 The amount of free
 memory is also visible
 on this menu line.
 Pressing ENTER in full
 sheet view will find
 subsequent instances
 of the search string.

== VIEW Menu ==
-GRIDLINES: Show/Hide
 row & column gridlines
-HEADINGS: Toggle ROW 1
 as the column heading
 row, which is then
 excluded from sorting.
-MODE: Sets the format
 of the document. Some
 formats will display
 a scroll bar or other
 characteristics.
-MAX.COL.WIDTH:Sets the
 maximum column width
 (in character units)
 which columns may
 acquire when auto-
 fitting to new data.

== OPTN Menu ==
-MULT. ACCURACY:This
 option sets the math
 accuracy (but not the
 precision) used while
 formulas carry out
 multiplication & div-
 ision. This differs
 from addition and
 subtraction, which
 are carried out using
 the most accurate of
 the two input values.
-CALCULATION: Set
 whether or not formulas
 are re-calculated every
 time a cell is changed
 (AUTO mode). Setting
 to NOW will perform
 recalcuation once upon
 returning to the sheet.
-KEYBOARD DELAY:Sets the
 time delay (in seconds)
 that key selections
 will automatically be
 applied. This feature
 is intended to reduce
 wear on the ENTER
 button & speed typing.
 Turn this feature off
 if you prefer to press
 ENTER every time.
-PASSWORD: Set ON/OFF
 to indicate whether
 the file will be saved
 using a password.
-SORT ASCENDING: Sorts
 all cells by the active
 column. The heading
 row is excluded. This
 is only available
 while an entire column
 is selected.
-SORT DESCENDING: Sorts
 all cells by the active
 column in reverse.
 This is only available
 while an entire column
 is selected.

5.Math Formulas
---------------
Zetamath currently can
handle certain formulas
and range functions:

=SUM(A1:A5)

Absolute & relative, as
well as both A1 & R1C1
style references are
supported when entering
formulas. At this time,
R1C1-style references
will change to A1-
style automatically.

The following range
functions can be used:

SUM :Numerical total
MIN :Least value
MAX :Greatest value
COUNT :Numerical count
COUNTA:Count all values

Formulas may include
addition, subtraction,
multiplication, div-
ision. Transcendental
functions are not
working at this time.

A concatenation oper-
ator (&) is also avail-
able and can be used
with any data type.

Circular references or
references deeper than
a few levels (including
nesting of parentheses)
will result in a #CPX!
error (formula too
complex).

Formula Errors
##### Unable to display
#CPX! Too complex
#FRM! Formula syntax
#VAL! Value out-of-range
#NUM! Invalid number
#DVZ! Division by zero
#REF! Reference invalid

6.Importing Data
----------------
The following file
formats can be used:

TXT Text format
CSV Comma seperated
TAB Tab delimited
ZME Zetamath extract

HTM file support has
been removed. Please
download Omegascape
from piehlsystems.com
to enable HTML viewing.

Any other types that
are associated with
Zetamath will behave
like TXT format.

TXT files use a wide
display which includes
a scroll bar and file
caption. Zetamath will
also attempt to wrap
the text so it fits on
the display. Lines
which continue past
the 255 row limit will
start over at the top,
a bit like newspaper
print. Line 1 starts
on row 2 of the sheet,
so the following
illustrates the result
of opening a TXT file:

----A---- ----B----
(Row 1: Sheet Caption)
Line 1 Line 255
Line 2 Line 256
..... .......
..... .......
Line 254 Line 508

This process will be
continued to column Z
or until memory is
exhausted.

An XLA add-in has been
provided to convert
files from XLS format
to ZME format, which
can be imported into
Zetamath with formulas
intact. Formulas that
use functions which
Zetamath is not able
to support will result
in #FRM! errors.

After adding the XLA
into your add-ins, an
export option will be
available on the file
menu while you work
on your PC XLS files.

7.External Keyboard
-------------------
Zetamath 2.0 currently
supports use of an
external keyboard for
entry of cell data,
as well as navigation
of the data using
page up/down keys.

Generally, the cursor
keys and other editing
features will function
much as on a PC.
Functionality of the
keys will depend
on the brand of
keyboard and your
configuration. See
the Advanced Docking
Station manual for
details.

Within Zetamath, the
following are some
key combinations that
are equivalent:

Alt-A Caps Lock
Alt-E Up key
Alt-D Down key
Alt-S Left key
Alt-F Right key
Alt-W Page Up
Alt-X Page Down
Alt-R Home
Alt-Z Esc
Ctrl-I Tab
Ctrl-M Enter
Ctrl-H Backspace

When using a keyboard,
the Esc key (or Alt-Z)
will usually act like
the MENU button on
the onHand/Ruputer.

The Enter key (Ctrl-M)
will act like the
ENTER button.

8.Notes
-------
*The ZMH file format
 is compatible with
 both Zetamath and
 Omegascape.

*Formula re-adjustment
 will take place after
 inserting or deleting
 rows/columns.

*Formula ranges require
 that cells in the range
 be declared upper-left
 to lower-right for
 proper formula outcome.

*Menu settings are saved
 with each .ZMH file.

*During a file import,
 EL button will default
 to 5 seconds.

*.ZMH extension can be
 set in filer.ini to
 run ZETAMATH.EXF.

*Worksheet columns
 will be automatically
 resized to match the
 longest cell.
 The Max.Col.Width
 setting will set an
 upper bound on column
 widths. If you need
 a larger row heading,
 reduce Max.Col.Width
 to re-distribute some
 space to the heading.

*Bitmap graphics can
 be stored in Zetamath
 cells using the |
 followed by hex data.
 (ex. |7F7F7F will
  show a 3x7 block)

*Passwords are limited
 to 20 characters of
 significance and are
 case-insensitive.

*Password is retained
 until Zetamath is
 closed. Any open or
 save operation which
 requires a password
 (PASSWORD:ON) will
 re-use the same one.

*If you receive a FILE
 I/O error during save
 you might not have
 sufficient space and
 the contents of your
 file HAVE BEEN LOST.
 Try to clear some of
 the cells in your
 sheet to make it fit
 in available memory.

*Please make frequent
 backups of any .ZMH
 files you use while
 working with this
 program. Piehl Systems
 is not responsible
 for loss or recovery
 of data files.
